See You At Comic-Con!

I am so nerdtastically excited to be heading to Comic-Con for the second year in a row!

Thursday through Saturday you can find me at the CNET Base Station, where you can stop to refresh and recharge your gadgets, get some refreshments, and there will be all kinds of prizes and fun things to do. Stop by and say hi!

Then on Sunday I'll have two panels and two signings:

10am -  I'll be signing at the Penguin booth.

Noon - I'm totally thrilled to be moderating a panel on What's Hot in Young Adult Fiction, with an incredible lineup of authors: Leigh Bardugo, James Dashner, Kami Garcia, Tahereh Mafi, Melina Marchetta, Lish McBride, Myra McEntire, and Scott Westerfeld!

1:30pm - I'll be doing another signing with the other panelists on the young adult fiction panel at Sail's Pavilion, area AA09.

2:45pm - I'll be on a panel about Heroes for the Middle Grade Reader with the stellar E.J. Altbacker, Cornelia Funke, Lisa Yee, Brandon Mull, Tony DiTerlizzi, Emily Janice Card, Derek the Ghost, and moderator Maryelizabeth Hart.

Whew! Yeah, this sounds like a lot, but hey, if I can keep it as cool as these guys I'll be doing just fine:

Can't wait!

They've definitely got their mojo going. Single bars, beware.

I'm so jealous. I hope I get to go next year! I want to cry because I'm not there. Haha.

Insanely jealous. I want to be at the Peter Jackson panel.

Wish I could be there to hear the "Heroes for the Middle Grade Reader" panel. Sounds like fun!

I hope someone summarizes that "trends in YA" panel. In my experience, they always follow the same script:
Don't focus on trends!
Vampires are out but still selling.
Dystopian is so yesterday.
We want more boy fiction!
But don't focus on the trends.

But seriously, now. Given the developments in self publishing in the last 12 months, what comprises a panel on trends? Or more specifically, what comprises YOUR panel on trends? Will you focus on what readers are buying, or on what publishers are asking for? I am thrilled that they asked you to moderate, given your expertise as a former agent, your current employ in a social media outlet, and your thoughtful understanding of the current disruptive changes going on in the industry.

I really wish I could attend this one.

I heard 'The Hobbit' is a big thing there, this year.

I'm so nerdtastically jealous. I couldn't make it this year or I'd come poke you with my light saber.

Famous as you are, and only two years?

Also, that has to be a SW/FaLiLV mashup, no?

I swear we will meet one day. I'm meeting B in Toronto this fall. Any chance you can make that?

Wow, Nathan. Your enthusiasm just lept off the page. You made me totally smile at the idea of you at Comic Con having fun.

I hope you do! How exciting to be on so many panels. I really hope you have an absolute blast, and I suspect you will!

Then you can come back and crash for a week to recuperate. :)

Sounds like so much fun! I'd love to hear the YA panel. Will there be any podcasting/youtubing?
Have a great time and try not to geek out too bad.
