These streets will make you feel brand new. Or so Jay Z and Alicia Keys tell me.
Last year around this time I was in New York when the Yankees won the World Series, and now I’m back just in time for the Giants to…….
Yeah, not going to jinx that one. Come onnnnnnnnnnnnn Tim Lincecum!! You can do it!
Also, you may have noticed that the blog was down for a bit this morning. That was 110% the fault of the Texas Rangers (I suspect Nolan Ryan himself), but please bear with me as there may be a few things being fixed in the meantime.
This post is dedicated to Madison Bumgarner’s awesomeness.
Meanwhile, posting may be a bit sporadic this week as I’m busy living out this video:
Josin L. McQuein says
Ha! Nolan's fast ball may have slowed down since he stopped pitching, but the man is still capable jinxing blogs!Maybe he should have thrown out the 1st pitch at game 4, too. π
(Go Rangers!)
Michelle says
It would be absolutely wonderful for the Rangers to win one more at home so that the series goes back to San Francisco. Linsecum wouldn't be pitching today with only three days' rest. I don't expect that Lee will be pitching, either.
Anna says
Have fun living the dream! Go to Grey's Papaya for me.

This is a little tough for me as a Padres fan, but GO GIANTS!!!
California, baby!

Our cable company finally settled their money issues in time for us to see games 3 & 4 of the Series. However, missing out on the entire NLCS and games 1 & 2 of the Series makes it feel weird. For me, baseball ended when the Yanks lost. Not that I'm a huge Yanks fan anymore. That's just when we stopped getting the games on TV. I kinda gave up on Yanks when they gave Torre da boot!! Guy takes you to 6 Series and wins 4 of them in a span of 12 yrs. and you/Stienbrenner treat him so poorly. It was wrong and they lost one heck of fan after that. I enjoyed watching the Dodgers last year!
Go GIANTS, I say! Seems like they have the pitching to be back the next few yrs.
Mira says
Um, no idea who those people are, but GO GIANTS!! Woot!
Hope you're having a great time, Nathan. Have fun!
I love that song – but I actually prefer the Glee version – love the harmonies.

GO GIANTS!!!

Enjoy New York, Nathan. Go Giants! (Texas has just upped the ante)
Sporadic posting is better than none.
Matthew Rush says
Enjoy the brick city NB. Here's to hoping that Brian Wilson gets one more save this season!

Great song, even for a Red Sox fan such as myself. Your post reminded me of my attempt back in April to rewrite it to describe my "work-from-home" Fridays: https://diningroomoffice.blogspot.com/2010/04/dining-room-office-state-of-mind.html
Conclusion? My goal to be the next Dave Barry is far more doable than the one to be the next Jay Z.

Isn't there a restaurant or diner or some kind of eating establishment in NY that fries everything? I think you should go there.

Nathan and friends — you underestimate our Texas Rangers! Cliff Lee is rested now and ready for a fight to the finish. I'm 54 years old and have been a loyal fan waiting for them to finally get in the playoffs. My husband and son are going tonight to sit in the same seats that they sold for $3800 each last night. So we may not win the series, but it's been great to see them in the spotlight for once. (Because our football team definitely doesn't deserve it this year.)
Go Rangers!!!!

Lincecum gets it done tonight.

Welcome to the Big Apple and the City of pinstripes π
Raised in Hell's Kitchen most of my life, NYC never gets old. There's just no city on Earth like it. I second Grey's Papaya (the one in the village), but if you can get to Coney Island, aint nuffin' like a Nathan's dog π Have a blast, can't wait to hear about your trip (hint, hint, update please!)
And that song is just awesomeness at its best. It even inspired a scene in one of my novels!
k10wnsta says
Yeah, the Giants really should throw this game. It'd just be water off their back – they pretty much own Texas.
I've never understood why a team would want to win a championship on the road. I mean, obviously in a game 7 you have no choice, but any time before that, it would just retarded. I suppose exceptions could be made where a massive, massive underdog just happens to have found themselves in a position to win it all. Although when the Blazers entered their very first playoffs, they were supposed to be swept under the rug by Dr. J and the 76ers in the finals. They even lost the first two games to lend the predictions credibility. Then they got back to the fans in Portland and everything changed. If they'd won it on the road, I don't think it would have been as special.

Nathan spent several hours inside a large French lady in NYC. Mrs. Nathan didn't mind. In fact, she joined him. Mind you, the French lady is over a hundred years old. And green, inside and out. And not deficient in either iron or copper.
All these ball games have the same problem. There are two teams but only one ball. Give each player his or her own ball and you would end all the arguing and fighting.
Colonel says
Nathan, you're correct – I was at Game 4 last night and saw Ryan put your blog in a headlock (a la Robin Ventura) and knock the @#$%! out of it.

You're getting some great NY weather right now. Hope it holds out.

It's uncanny. I'm in NYC, and I'll be posting sporadically, too!
Of course, I live here, and haven't blogged since June.
… Have a great week!
Richard Mabry says
All smack-talking aside, congratulations to the San Francisco Giants. I'm proud of our Texas Rangers for reaching their first ever World Series. Now wait 'till next year.
Sheila Cull says
You're so fortunate Nathan. Do you realize this?
Joseph L. Selby says
You're sure it's that video and not this video?

were you dancing in the street's last night? Maybe you should come to NY more often!

I absolutely LOVE this tune!

I'll keep an eye out for ya! π

Even with their stellar pitching, having watched the Giants all year, it seems miraculous they won the Seriesβbut hey, 55 years was worth the wait!
I'm sending out some extra queries today (mixing fastballs and changeups) in celebration.
Julia Rachel Barrett says
Madison Bumgarner is awesome and we won! Screeeeeee! A team of freaks, geeks, rookies and rejects. I so love them all!
Chuck H. says
New York City? Don't they make salsa there?

CALIFORNIA, BABY!!!!
PJ Lincoln says
Just goes to show you that excellent pitching wins out most of the time.

Wow – I work on the street where the Giants are having the parade!! We can look out our windows and watch the whole thing. It hasn't even started yet, and this place is a zoo. And not just any zoo, but a SAN FRANCISCO ZOO, as only San Francsico can do a zoo. The energy is amazing, the people are awesome. They are already screaming their heads off, and there's no one there.
No one is getting any work done.
I'll hold a place for you in spirit, Nathan. π
I don't know anything about sports, but I do know this: Go Giants!!!
Mira says
Woah, Nathan, I looked at the crowd and you're already there in spirit. All those giant's t-shirts, it's like a sea of orange.
Claire Dawn says
I was in New York, in a club when that song was released. I have never wanted to be a New Yorker until I heard it.
Claire Dawn says
PS, did you know that the Giants have won the most games in American Pro-baseball history. You probably do. I just found that out while making a San Fran poster for my Japanese kids who'll be going on exchange.
