Where Are You From?

I thought we could take a little breather from the VERY INTENSE current world of book publishing for a moment and take in our surroundings. I'm going to go a whole post without even mentioning the word e-book. I know! You probably think I can't do it. I'll show you.

In one of the earlier recent threads someone was curious about where people reading the blog are from and the US/international breakdown of the blog readership. And now that I've started receiving queries from areas as far away as Pakistan and Nigeria, I'm quite curious myself.

So: where are you living? (city/state/country)

Me: San Francisco, CA, USA

Fargo, ND. Yep, like in the movie, only most of the movie took place in Brainerd, MN. Only the opening scene was in Fargo, and I rarely hear people talk like that. :)Occasionally a "you betcha" and "uffda" slips in, for good measure.

And I just realized today that writer Joshua Ferris (who graduated from Iowa the same year I did) was in a student film of mine. Waaaay back in the day. Weird. OK, moving on.

A shocking number of UK Agents do not have anything near a contemporary website outlining what their niche might be or what they're looking for (there may well be a good reason for this though i doubt it.)

Many UK Agents come across rather staid and uninteresting Yours site/blog is a refreshing - though some may say foolhardy - break from what we have in the UK.

I have spoken to a number of writers who may well be targetting Agents in the US rather than the UK for this very reason: a warm, engaging, uptodate, internet presence.

I'm in London.

Lol. I was very impressed with how you didn't mention the word e-book in your post. That was funny.

And the intensity will die down soon when people realize that nothing has really changed yet, not really. Mostly just talk. But it's good for voices to be heard.

Me, I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area, California.

Wonderful place to live, but very expensive.
