Estoy Salieeeennndooooo en un Avion de Jet

Hola mis amigos! I'm on my way today to the San Miguel Writer's Conference in scenic and beautiful San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where Barbara Kingsolver will be speaking and where I'm due to meet with many lovely and talented writers.

I know. It's a difficult job, but someone has to do it.

I hope to continue posting while I'm away, but blogging may be a bit sporadic as time and enchilada consumption warrants.

Also, in case you haven't seen it, Kingsolver's new novel THE LACUNA was recently released and I'm reading it now. It's muy interesante.

Hasta luego!

It's a hard knock life for you agents. Having to travel all over the U.S. and now Mexico! Phew! That's rough. :)

Have fun!

Ack. Now I've got that scene from Armageddon stuck in my head where they're getting on the shuttle and all singing that song!

Have fun anyway.

Awesome, awesome, awesome. I'll have to check out Kingsolver's new novel. Bean Trees is my absolute favorite all-time novel. Can't wait to read the new one.

Have a good trip!

The Poisonwood Bible was my book club's very first book (10 years ago) which set the bar high for future picks. Safe travels. :)

Ole!

I'm sure you already know but your team just got a couple of pretty good players - whaddayathink? T-Mac and Landry paired with Casspi and Evans, could be the makings of an innarestin team.

Until I read your post, I was actually feeling good about the fact that the temperature here has made it all the way up to the forties for the first time this year. Pero ahora, estoy muy celosa.

Can you figure out a way to pipe some warm, Mexican breezes through your blog to those of us stuck in winter for a while?

Have fun!

Barbara Kingsolver is one of my absolutely favorite authors. I think her novel, THE POISONWOOD BIBLE, is excellent. I have THE LACUNA in hardcover, and plan to read it very soon. Have fun at the writers’ conference!

Hey! I'm leaving for Mexico Saturday. Perhaps I can stalk you ... er, ah, never mind. I'll be in the Yucatan anyway.

SO jealous. San Miguel AND Barbara Kingsolver.

Fantastic news that you'll be speaking closer to home in September, at the Central Coast (CA) Writers Conference. It's a great conference, with a whole lot of fun and wisdom packed into a day and a half. And for those who can't get to San Miguel, San Luis Obispo does a nice imitation of paradise.

Hope you have a great trip! That sounds like one heck of a conference!

Sorry, Spanish is not my strong suit. Try Latin, Italian, Scots, or Anglo-Saxon if you want to play foreign language. Anyway, have fun down in Mexico. I'll just be up here...freezing amongst the bajillion feet of snow...

Tell Dianna Aston hello from her friends in Austin and that we miss her. Ask her if she has a dead bird in her freezer. She'll be your friend for life.

Bien divertido.

I have got to stop posting when I'm tired. Of course, then I wouldn't be writing now.

Nathan, you work hard and your work is exceptional. You deserve some perks and a really fun time. I hope you have a blast! :)

Of course, the only downside is I don't think it's been a snowy winter in Mexico. But I'm sure we'll have snow for you up here in the City by the time you get back.

Have a great time. :)

Interested to hear all about it - with photos - when you get back :)

Bon voyage!

I'm going to miss your regular posts. But then, you deserve a break, too.

But I'll be checking for fun posts all weekend, Nathan. In case you decide to post anything interesting.

Don't eat too many enchiladas ;D

Well, I've got to get back to my writing now. So be good, and really really have fun!

Although I mostly prefer children's books, I always make time for Kingsolver.

You really do have one of the coolest jobs in the world, getting to hang out with writers. I know I enjoy their company.

"Let's all go peek now:"

Wow.

What else can you say?

Avoid drinking the water, and any beverage prepared with local water, like the ice in a highball, especially if taking in the local color off-site.

Raw fruits and vegetables are another source of amebic dysentery.
